The main objectives of the course are:
Planning of mixed analogue / digital building blocks understanding of the problems that arise in the implementation of integrated VLSI microelectronic systems management procedures and advanced planning tools, languages for modeling descriptions and simulation of simultaneous analog and digital subsystems with sensors and / or actuators. In addition, students will be familiar with trends in the realization of microelectronic systems for the next 10 to 15 years and the main constraints that dictate development.
DESIGN METHODOLOGY PLANNING: Planning methodology microelectronic systems from the top down and from the bottom up and the use of modern design tools.
COMPLEX ANALOG/DIGITAL MODULES: analog-to-digital and digital-to-analog converters, phase continuous loop mixers, phase detectors, complex filters.
MODELING OF MICROELECTRONIC SYSTEMS: Matlab / Simulink and VHDL-AMS language for mixed analog-digital systems and sensors / actuators description, simulation of complex microelectronic systems at different levels, use of tools for modeling and simultaneous simulations etc.,
PARASITIC PHENOMENON: the current and future technological processes (cross-talk, leakage, latency, noise, electro-migration and the constraints of modern technologies)
BORDERS OF CMOS TECHNOLOGY: where the reduction of structures leads, new elements (SET), the impact of borders on design of digital and analog integrated circuits and microelectronic systems, optimization of power, redundancy, …
SELECTED TOPICS: testing, testability, BIST and reliability of microelectronic systems.
NEW APPLICATION OF MODERN TECHNOLOGIES: bio-electronic integrated circuits, ASIC and Co-integration of MEMS sensors, nanoelectronic integrated circuits …
